Youth leaders, pastors invited to Crisis Intervention conference

The HEROES Initiative in Johnson City will hold a Crisis Intervention conference for youth leaders and pastors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at First Christian Church on Mountcastle Drive in Johnson City.

Young people deal with a multitude of crises every day. Often, they will seek understanding, caring and knowledgeable adults to turn to for support and assistance. The conference is an effort to provide youth leaders and pastors the information and resources needed to successfully deal with adolescent issues when they arise. Topics will include: preparing for the mental health/ emotional needs of at-risk youth; identifying the first signs of young people in need of intervention services; suicide prevention; developing crisis intervention procedures for your church or group; training for youth care volunteers and parents; and resources and contacts
