Yard sale set to aid veterinary center10:00 am | February 27, 2013
Shoppers looking for a two-for-one special — a good deal and an opportunity to help out a good cause — will get the chance to find it Saturday with East Tennessee Spay and Neuter’s yard sale at the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation building.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward the opening of the Paws of Hope Animal Wellness Center in Bluff City, said ETSN Director Danika Nadzan.
The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nadzan said some table spaces are still available for vendors at $20 per space. She said vendors need to bring their own table. The yard sale will feature typical yard sale finds — items for sale do not have to be pet-related.
ETSN will also sponsor a giveaway with a grand prize of a $110 professional pet portrait package, as well as several runner-up prizes. ETSN will also do spay-neuter sign-ups, and hopes to have dog obedience demonstrations and microchipping at $20 per chip.
Opening a low-cost veterinarian clinic is one of the long-term goals of ETSN.
The clinic will ben on U.S. Highway 19E in Bluff City near the Dollar General store, and is part of ETSN’s “Better Life for Pets and People” program. Nadzan said the program is designed to keep pets healthy, happy and out of the animal shelter.
