Woman given order of protection in case involving deputy

The woman a Carter County sheriff’s deputy is charged with assaulting received an order of protection Monday after the deputy was arraigned in court.

CCSD Deputy Matt Ainsworth, 25, 103 Stonewall Blvd., Unit 4, Elizabethton, received a continuance on two charges — assault and assault under domestic violence — one day after he was arrested and accused of beating his ex-girlfriend and her neighbor.

Ainsworth’s ex-girlfriend was awarded an order of protection upon the issuing of the continuance.

According to the arrest report, CCSD Lt. Keith Range and Deputy Brian Smithpeters responded to a 911 call at the ex-girlfriend’s address in the Milligan community on Sunday morning. The woman told the officers that Ainsworth came to her apartment, accused her of cheating on him and began to hit her in the head and face.
