It is never easy to replace a Miss Basketball finalist. However, Cloudland had the perfect girl for the job.

Courtney Wilson has led the Lady Highlanders to a 26-5 record in the regular season, just a year removed from Brooke Rhodes’ remarkable senior year that ended in the TSSAA Class A state tournament and Rhodes being named a Miss Basketball finalist.

“Courtney got to play with Brooke, but she had to come in and wear Brooke’s big shoes this year and did so really well,” Cloudland coach Matt Birchfield said. “She had a great senior year. Night in and night out, she poured her heart out on the floor. She is a great kid and I am really proud of her. She is going to be hard to replace.”

For Wilson, she knew the challenge she faced. However, she had no doubt that this year’s team was right for the job.
