Widow wants justice for her husband

It is there where the Carter County Sheriff’s Department began its investigation into the Oct. 17, 2011, death of the 55-year-old man. Originally, Israel Goudy claimed he killed Whittaker in self-defense, but all that changed Sept. 21 when authorities arrested Goudy, charging him with second-degree murder.

The ongoing investigation showed, officials said, not the late-night self-defense Goudy had claimed but, rather, a murder the 32-year-old attempted to cover up by stabbing himself four times to make it seem as if a struggle had ensued that fateful night.
