Laura Lea Peters and Matthew Edward Baird were united in marriage in an outdoor ceremony on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 6 p.m. at the home of the bride’s parents in Shady Valley. Pastor Jack Stevens performed the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Kitty Peters. She is the granddaughter of Junior and Elsie Gentry of Shady Valley, Jerry Peters of Elizabethton, and Wilma Hoffman of Hampton.
The groom is the son of Eddie Baird and Lisa Estep. He is the grandson of Robert and Marie Blevins of Elizabethton, Geraldine Baird of Elizabethton, and the late Sterling Baird.
The bride was given away in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. Erin Ragan of Elizabethton was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Reece of Trade, Ashley King of Maryville and Amie Brown of Elizabethton. Junior bridesmaids were Kylah Rogers of Johnson City and Taylor Baird of Elizabethton. Flower girls were Hailie Reece of Trade and Brooke Stevens of Elizabethton.
The bride wore a white vintage dress covered with lace featuring a sweetheart neckline, a key-hole back, lace cap-sleeves, a beaded satin sash and a long chapel-length train.
Her veil was elbow-length with an embellished edge featuring pearls, beads and sequins.
She carried a bouquet mixed of roses and wildflowers that were wrapped in burlap and pinned with a brooch.
The bride’s attendants wore a lapis one shoulder organza dress with a full skirt. The junior bridesmaids wore a lapis bubble hem crinkle chiffon charmeuse dress. The flower girls wore a white princess dress that had a lapis sash and flower.
The best man was Robert Blevins of Elizabethton. Groomsmen were Jon Bowers of Elizabethton, Shawn Malone of Elizabethton, and Matthew Peters of Shady Valley. Junior groomsmen were Caleb Greer of Big Rock and Keaton Rogers of Johnson City. Ring bearers were Hunter Franklin of Elizabethton and Ethan Reece of Trade.
The pianist was Logan Gillen of Johnson City. Vocalists were Stephen Long of Shady Valley, and Lindsay Gilbert of Maryville. Lorianne and Karrie English of Bristol opened the isle to begin the ceremony. Joy Henry and Mindy Harold of Knoxville kept the wish tree.
A rustic reception was held in the bride’s grandparents’ barn following the ceremony.
The wedding was directed by Amy Nave of Elizabethton. Aunts of the bride, Kathy Rogers, Clara Heaton, Karen Eller and Tracy Greer, served as the reception coordinators.
After a honeymoon to Grand Cayman, the couple resides in Elizabethton.
