Patty M. Morton, Elizabethton, and Steve Markland, Elizabethton, were united in marriage during a western theme wedding on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the home of the bride’s daughter, Melissa Buckles, 521 Jena Beth Drive, Elizabethton. Edward Doerr performed the 2 p.m., double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of the late Vester and Catherine Morton.

The groom is the son of Betty Markland, Stoney Creek, and the late Clarence Markland.

The bride wore a brown western dress and cowboy hat. She carried brown and tan lilies.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was her best friend, Debra Briggs.
Randy Morton, brother of the bride, served the groom as best man.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the wedding site.
After a honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, the couple are residing in Elizabethton.
