Markland – Howell


Mallory Leeann Markland and Matthew Ryan Howell were united in marriage during a double-ring exchange of vows at The Charles on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 5 p.m. Pastor Jeremy Dykes officiated the unity sand ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Rochelle and Mickey Darnell, Elizabethton, and Mark Markland, also of Elizabethton. She is the granddaughter of the late George “Ed” and Wanda Markland, Joe Hicks, Johnson City, and Ernie and Georgia Rosenbaum, Elizabethton.

The groom is the son of Steve and Judy Howell, Johnson City. He is the grandson of the late Cliner and Martha Jackson and the late Bob and Mary Ellen Howell.

Music for the ceremony included the recordings of God Bless the Broken Road and Glass.

Given in marriage by her father and mother, the bride wore an ivory Casablanca gown with beaded lace over silky satin. The slim A-line silhouette defined by the “V” neckline and inverted waistline featured a low “V” neckline in back with a semi-cathedral train.

She carried a bouquet of red/turquoise roses, calla lilies and coffee beans wrapped in lace around the stem.

Heather Darnell, attending as maid of honor, wore a strapless turquoise knee-length dress with ivory lace overlay over the bust enhanced by a red ribbon around the waistline.

Bridesmaids were Rebekah Cunningham, Nikki Roberts and Ashton Belcher. Junior bridesmaid was Taylor Howell. Each was attired in a strapless turquoise knee-length dress with ivory lace overlay over the bust enhanced by a turquoise ribbon around the waistline.

Flower girl was Zoe Sanders.

Mason Hicks was ring bearer.

Jody Rodefer served the groom as best man.

Groomsmen were James Britt, Bradley Roberts and Brandon Belcher. Peyton Cunningham was junior groomsman.

After the ceremony a reception was held in the downstairs of The Charles.

Following a honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple are residing in Johnson City.
