Happy Valley’s 66-49 win over Unicoi County in the Hardee’s Classic back in November was the highlight of the season for Warrior basketball fans. That was until Friday night’s game.
Brennen Bailey’s two free throws with three seconds remaining allowed HV to shock the Blue Devils 53-51 and guaranteed the Warriors three more games and shot in the regional tournament. It was a contest they simply refused to lose.
The Warriors (6-21) were to face Elizabethton (21-6) in the semifinals on Saturday. For HV coach Chuck Babb, it’s a major stepping stone getting his young squad into the regional.
