Warriors, Falcons eager to get going

Prep football season kicks off on Friday night, and a pair of teams who hit the field in Church Hill are beyond hungry to get kick-started with a victory.

From the 5A ranks there is home-standing Volunteer. On the road is Class 3A Happy Valley.

Each program is reeling from a losing season.

That has been the norm for Volunteer. For Happy Valley, winning had become a tradition in recent falls.

“All of them are important, but the first one seems to have a little more meaning,” Volunteer coach Scott Rider said. “It kind of sets the tone for the season for you.”

Kick-off is 7:30 p.m.
