Valley Forge students pay tribute to veterans9:58 am | November 13, 2012
Valley Forge Elementary School students used songs and words to pay tribute to the nation’s veterans and active military members during a special Veterans Day tribute Monday morning.
And, fitting for a school assembly, the youngsters also learned about the men and women who defend them.
Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jason Hollis was the special guest for the ceremony, sharing the definition of “veteran” and describing some of the military’s duties for his young pupils.
Hollis explained to the students that a veteran is someone who has served in any branch of the military during either peacetime or during a conflict. He said each branch also has reservists who sign up to serve their country, but continue to live their “civilian” lives.
