KNOXVILLE (AP) — Some employees of the University of Tennessee will see a bump in their paychecks starting Wednesday.

The university will increase its minimum starting pay rate for all regular full- and part-time employees from $8.50 an hour to $9 an hour. The rate will go up again on June 30 to $9.50 an hour.

University officials say campuses and institutes are reallocating existing funds to cover initial costs associated with the increase, estimated to total about $273,000.

WSMV-TV in Nashville reported (http://bit.ly/18Tx30 ) that UT’s Compensation Advisory Board recommended the raise and will impact about 223 current employees working across the state.
