SNEEDVILLE — A glistening Christmas tree still stood in Hancock County High School’s lobby.
Unaka’s basketball team brought no gifts to bear.
Overcoming a sluggish start, the Rangers blasted the Indians 55-41 in non-conference action on Friday night.
“I’d say our first half is where we had some time off,” Unaka coach Aaron Dugger said. “We were a little rusty, but we rebounded the ball pretty good towards the end of the half and the whole second half. That kind of sparked us going, because we got to go out and run a little bit and get into a transition — as opposed to the first half.”
A 14-0 run saw the Rangers (7-7) lead 31-20 early in the third quarter. Billy Bales had given Unaka a 21-18 halftime advantage.
