Following last Sunday’s torrential rainfall and flash flooding, the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church’s Buffalo Mountain Camp and Retreat Center experienced significant damage from the weather. On Thursday, (from left) Washington County Mayor Dan Eldridge, Camp Director Jason Onks, Holston Conference Bishop James Swanson, Johnson City District Superintendent Rev. Walter Weikel and Amanda Onks had an opportunity to assess the damage caused by the rainfall. After touring the camp, Swanson stated, “We’ll have (Buffalo Mountain Camp) back up and running. It will be better than before. I guarantee that.”

Hundreds of residents in Washington, Carter and Unicoi counties are continuing to assess the damage created to their homes and property following last Sunday’s flooding.
