Twins split twinbill with BriSox3:42 am | July 12, 2013
The Elizabethton Twins maintain a game and a half lead atop the Appalachian League’s West Division after a bizarre Thursday night at Joe O’Brien Field.
Elizabethton split a doubleheader with the Bristol White Sox. The defending champion Twins took the opener 5-4 on Kelvin Ortiz’s walk-off, two-run homer with two out in the seventh, while Elizabethton’s pitchers combined to walk 11 batters in the 11-6 nightcap defeat.
After Zack Granite walked in the final inning of the first game, Ortiz blasted his first home run of the season to ignite a celebration at home plate.
