Mitchell Garver pushed his batting average to over .300 on Friday night, and in the process spurred the Elizabethton Twins past the Bristol White Sox at Joe O’Brien Field.
The designated hitter ripped a run-scoring single with two out in the ninth inning to decide the 6-5 Appalachian League outcome. Garver went 3 for 5 with two RBIs on the evening.
“I was feeling good today,” Garver said. “I started working with Jeff Reed, my hitting coach, a little bit. We’re working on some things that I wasn’t doing well, and today was a good day.
“I was seeing the ball well. Luckily we had a few guys get on.”
