Tough road test awaits Longhorns

Johnson County is hoping that “Death Valley” doesn’t become a death sentence on Friday night in Colonial Heights.

The Longhorns have the difficult task of trying to knock off undefeated Sullivan South, ranked No. 3 in this week’s Class 4-A poll.

Coach Mike Atwood’s squad will try and do something that no conference opponent has done thus far. The Rebels are coming off a 43-0 win over Sullivan North and have yet to be scored upon in four leagues games.

Atwood knows his team has a tall task at hand, but his team still has plenty to play for. The ’Horns currently hold the tiebreaker over Unicoi County and Happy Valley for one of 3-A’s final playoff spots. He’s hoping that his team can make a good showing.
