Tough decision equates to Townsend’s first pro loss

Hampton’s Adam Townsend blazed through the amateur ranks undefeated.
He did the same after turning professional in MMA, winning his first four bouts in just over a year.
Because of that impressive resume for “Primetime,” he garnered some large attention. Instead of continuing to build his resume in East Tennessee, or Southwest Virginia, he was headed to the fighting state of New Jersey.
More specifically, Atlantic City. One major obstacle was he was no longer the local boy, the crowd favorite.
In an evenly contested war, between a pair of undefeated warriors last Friday night, Townsend lost by decision to Frankie Perez (6-0).
All three judges at ringside had the same opinion. Even MMA-Insider’s John Moorehouse agreed with the outcome, although he stressed he took into consideration the odds Townsend was against on the road in the lightweight matchup.
