The Tennessee Highway Patrol today named the man killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in the Hunter community.

According to information released by the THP, 39-year-old Christopher A. Terrill was killed when his motorcycle drove off the side of the roadway and struck a street sign and a row of mail boxes.

Terrill, a Mountain City resident, was travelling north on State Highway 91 near the intersection of Blue Springs Road Friday morning when the crash occurred.

The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted from the scene  to a local hospital by Wings Air Rescue, but died from his injuries.

Trooper Sollie Rabun said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, but Terrill’s blood will be tested, as protocol dictates in all fatal accidents.

Here is the previous report by the STAR:

A Tennessee Department of Safety spokesperson said few details are available from a fatal motorcycle crash Friday morning on State Highway 91 near the entrance to Blue Springs Road.

The rider was airlifted from the scene by Wings Air Rescue.

Spokesman Kevin Crawford said more information will likely be released later today after the rider’s next of kin are notified.

The crash is under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
