Third-place state finish for EHS relay

MURFREESBORO — Elizabethton’s girls 4×400 relay team proved it could run with the “Big Dogs” on Thursday night at the Class A/AA state track meet held at Middle Tennessee State University.
The Lady Cyclones’ impressive time of 4:11:22 earned them a third-place spot on the podium, two spots behind Martin Luther King — which won the event with a time of 4:04:13. CAK finished second with a 4:07:09 mark.
It was a good showing for the Cyclones, who led the first leg after an impressive start by Katie May.
“I wanted to get us close to the front and I was able to do that,” said May. “I ran as hard as I could, and these girls did too. I was heartbroken after not making it down here in the triple jump and some other events, and these girls knew it. They ran hard from me to get down here and I wanted to do the same for them. I
