Over 450 junior high football athletes vied for one of 50 spots on two gridiron teams. A pair of T.A. Dugger standouts made the cut.
Junior Cyclone seventh-graders Chandler Mullins and Kalen Clark were selected to represent the future of football in the state of Tennessee against players from Kentucky in the Tennessee-Kentucky Future Stars All-Star Game on June 15 in Knoxville.
“It’s a big deal for those young kids,” said T.A. Dugger seventh grade coach Johnny Burleson. “Over 450 kids tried out and they picked about 50 kids for that team. For them to be picked is a big deal. They get to stay on campus at the University of Tennessee for three or four days, practice, have a banquet and get to play in Knoxville against some of the best kids in their age group from Kentucky.”
The event, which will be televised on Fox Sports South, pits separate Tennessee and Kentucky seventh- and eighth-grade football squads against one another in a showcase of skills.
