TAD soccer takes title

T.A. Dugger’s boys soccer squad capped its unbeaten 2013 season with a thrilling 2-1 win over Science Hill Middle School on Thursday night at Brown-Childress Stadium, and the outcome of the district-title match came down to a fingertip save by Junior Cyclone goalkeeper Cody Dugger to prevent overtime.
With the last precious seconds winding down and Science Hill in full attack mode, Dugger’s save was the play of the game.
Jr. Hilltopper Kemo Lenaud fired a low shot in the penalty box that sent Dugger sprawling to the turf at Dave Rider Field, and with an outstretched right arm he managed to catch the rolling ball in the crook of his arm and pull it to his body to save the game for TAD.
