JOHNSON CITY — Down by six runs after two innings, T.A. Dugger’s Lady Jr. Cyclones decided they were going to take the Middle Eight Conference tournament championship game against Unicoi County to the limit.
And did they ever. When the dust settled at Metro-Kiwanis Park on Thursday night, Unicoi escaped with an 8-7 victory that saw the Lady Cyclones’ comeback end with the tying run at second base.
“T.A Dugger has a great team and I knew they would make a run at us,” said UCMS head coach Stephanie Linville. “I kept telling the girls to keep their composure and play our game. We have been guilty at times of playing other people’s game; we just have to play our game.
“Bowen is a very focused pitcher for a player her age. I think she did a tremendous job.”
