STAR wins big at UT/TPA awards, recognized as best newspaper in state in its division

The Elizabethton STAR has been recognized as the best daily newspaper in its division in the University of Tennessee/Tennessee Press Association Newspaper Contest in Nashville.

GenExcellenceThe STAR won 8 first place awards for Education Reporting, Business Reporting, Sports Coverage, Makeup and Appearance, Community Lifestyles, Local Features, Spot News Coverage and, for the second year in a row, Best Website.

The newspaper won a total of 23 awards.

Attending the awards ceremony at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville were Publisher Mark A. Stevens, Editor-in-Chief Brian Reese, photographer Brandon Hicks and county reporter Max Hrenda.
