Now picture every one of those people in need of an organ transplant … with thousands more lined up outside.

In the United States, 116,000 are people waiting for a transplant: “Neyland Stadium in Knoxville seats 109,000 people,” said Joy McCray with Tennessee Donor Services. “Everyone waiting for an organ donation could be seated in the stadium and there would be people without a seat.”

McCray said 2,500 of those waiting are from Tennessee; 2,000 are children under the age of 18.

To help spread the word about the lifesaving impact of organ donation, the staff at Sycamore Shoals Hospital are celebrating Donate Life Month, the third year the hospital has officially marked the event.
