JOHNSON CITY – A very special blood drive is being held in memory of Brittany Jo Hankal on Saturday, Dec. 21 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the American Red Cross, 818 Sunset Dr. Brittany Jo was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 21. Her family is honoring her memory by encouraging people to give blood since that was one of Brittany Jo’s favorite ways to serve others. Brittany Jo was a graduate of David Crockett High School. DCHS staff, students and graduates are especially encouraged to donate.
Most individuals 17 years old or older (16 with parental consent) weighing a minimum of 110 pounds, and in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Donors under the age of 19 may need to meet slightly higher height/weight requirements. Donors should eat a well balanced meal one to two hours before donating, drink extra water, and bring a photo ID. More information at www.redcrossblood.org
