South Greene rolls over Unaka

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

On Friday night at Goddard Field, the Unaka Rangers were fooled time and time again by the slight of hand of South Greene quarterback Hunter Waddell.

The Rangers saw the right side of their defense gashed repeatedly by Rebel rushers — who amassed 325 ground yards, mostly working that side — as Unaka fell 40-0 in Mountain East Conference action.

Unaka (1-3 MEC, 1-6 overall) needed a win on senior night to keep its flickering playoff hopes alive, but simply could not find an answer to tailback Preston Shuffler, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns, and Waddell, who added 129 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown — plus a passing score.
