Softball: JCHS withstands Hampton

For Johnson County, getting a win over a pesky Hampton squad was a bit like trying to teach a near blind man to thread a needle. The two squads hooked up in a donnybrook before the Lady Longhorns emerged with a difficult 8-5 road win on Friday.
The Lady Longhorns scored three times in the fifth to break a 5-5 tie. Assistant coach Lisa Mullins touched on her team’s play.
“It’s always that type of game when we come down here,” said Mullins. “We did some good things but we also made some mistakes, too. We’re very young and mistakes will happen, but hopefully we’ll learn from it.”
Mullins was referring to the three freshmen and three sophomores in the starting lineup.
