GATLINBURG — The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is recruiting volunteers to assist park visitors.
The volunteers will inform visitors about park rules such as not disturbing wildlife. They will also provide historical information and advice on the best areas for viewing things like the fall leaf colors.
When elk are in the fields, the volunteers will help staff with traffic management.
Volunteers will rove the River Trail, the Mountain Farm Museum and fields along Newfound Gap Road.
The volunteer positions will be available from now through November 9.
Anyone interested in volunteering is required to attend a training session on April 26 at the old park visitor center near Cherokee, N.C.
