Sheriff’s Department will give civil service examination Nov. 298:52 am | November 19, 2012
The Civil Service Board of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office will administer the civil service exam for deputies Thursday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. in the Commons Area/Cafeteria at the Elizabethton High School.
All persons interested in employment at the Carter County Sheriff’s Office can apply to take the exam. Applicants must at least 21 years of age, be bondable and a citizen of the United States. They must also be a high school graduate or possess its equivalent or have been honorably discharged from the U.S. military.
The Tennessee Correctional Institute, which governs jails in the state of Tennessee, requires an appropriate ratio of male and female employees to adequately supervise inmates.
Currently, the Carter County Sheriff’s Department is anticipating the hiring of 10 correctional officers.
Applications for employment are available at the Carter County Sheriff’s Office. All applications must be completed and on file at the Carter County Sheriff’s Office no later than Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. Applicants should also bring proof of identification.
