The bid for the new Elizabethton Carter County Animal Shelter was unanimously awarded to Landmark Construction of Johnson City, which has the lowest price of $499,245 and the quickest completion time of 120 days on the project.

The animal shelter advisory committee received five eligible bids which were opened Thursday afternoon in a ceremony at Elizabethton’s city hall. The other bids were from Preston Construction of Johnson City with a bid of $505,000; Armstrong Construction of Kingsport with a bid of $515,000; C & T Construction of Johnson City with a bid of $524,470 and GoinsRashCain of Kingsport with a bid of $539,700.

Chairman Mike Barnett said it was a combination of the lowest price combined with the quickest completion time that won the bid for Landmark Construction.

“It was not just their pricing,” Barnett said. “It was also the days of construction. Their bid was less than everyone else’s. All of the bids we received were fairly close, and we were pleased with those.”
