Senior night for Elizabethton’s swimming team absorbed a slight setback on Tuesday night, but the Cyclones made the best of the situation in the pool.
In an intra-squad meet, Elizabethton’s Kelsi McKamey qualified for the state competition next February in Knoxville in the girls’ 100-yard buttefly. On the boys’ side, Scout Walz continued to impress each time he dove in the water.
Honored were Chris Lanthorn, Donald Huber, John Smith, Nathan Warner, Walz, D.J. Arnett, Anthony Huber, Caitlin Hughes and Emily Thornton.
Morristown East was scheduled to visit the Cyclones.
“What had become a negative thing with the other team backing out of tonight’s meet is the fact that we were able to have senior night, honor the kids, take our time and make this night very special,” Elizabethton coach Justin Conway said. “These young men and women have been a part of the building process for this program, and they are the ones that have laid the foundations of what this program will become. I am so proud of every single senior that we have.
