10:00 am | July 3, 2013

Hundreds of runners and walkers will lace up their sneakers for a good cause tonight when they take part in the Elizabethton/Carter County United Way’s Stars and Stripes 4-Mile Run/Walk.

The Stars and Stripes race will begin at 8 p.m. at 3rd and Main streets, will loop through downtown Elizabethton and surrounding neighborhoods and will finish through the Covered Bridge.

Elizabethton/Carter County United Way Director Debbie Guy said close to 150 people had registered to take part in the race, which is close to the goal the Fundraising Committee set for the event. With the day-of-the-race registrations, Guy believes the goal of 200-300 participants will be reached.
