‘Rocky Horror Show’ coming to Johnson City2:50 pm | April 15, 2013
Two Pence Productions and The Acoustic Coffeehouse are joining forces to bring you the uproarious rock musical, “The Rocky Horror Show.”
Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” first debuted in 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Since then it has become a cult classic spawning a film that launched the careers of Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry and Barry Bostwick. The film, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” is still regularly shown at theaters throughout the world, making it the longest-running release in film history.
Audience participation is encouraged but not required. The live stage version has developed into a unique theatre experience in which the audience has become an integral part of the evening, yelling “call backs” during the performance and utilizing various props such as playing cards and noise makers to participate in the dialogue. “Goody Bags” containing all the various props — and an instruction card on their use — will be available at the door for $3.
Directed by Ashley Seehorn, the production stars Tod C. Riddle, Adrian Thomas, Emily Watson, Meaghan Gray, Abby Tucker, Michael Feathers, Griffin Van Camp, Gareth Van Camp, Shea Sanabria, Danielle Elizabeth Wright, Brandon Guffey, Melanie Yodkins and Jim Benelisha as Dr. Scott.
Ticket prices are $15. There will be a $5 discount for anyone with a student or military ID.
Show times are Friday and Saturday, April 19-20, at 8 p.m. There will also be a special midnight performance on Saturday, April 20. For reservations or questions, call 202-3660. Due to adult language and situations, mature audiences only.
