BRISTOL — Playing away from a home hundreds or thousands of miles away is something professional baseball players grow accustomed to over time.
When home is on the other side of the globe, it’s a different story.
For Elizabethton Twins first baseman Rory Rhodes, last week’s visit by his father, Ross, and girlfriend, Shai, from native Australia was the perfect way to break up the season.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Rhodes said between Thursday’s doubleheader with the Bristol White Sox. “Both my dad and girlfriend are here and it’s a great way to break up the season because it’s a long year — and definitely good to catch up with them and feel more at home.”
