Rembert, Buccaneers best stubborn Buffs in exhibition

JOHNSON CITY — It was Rashawn Rembert’s game. Everyone else was just playing in it.

The junior guard from Tampa, Fla., lit it up from downtown, connecting with nine treys en route to a game-high 33 points as ETSU derailed pesky Milligan 118-83 in a high-scoring exhibition opener Tuesday at MSHA Athletic Center.

“After the first three, I knew it was going to be one of those nights,” said Rembert. “I’ve got to thank my teammates for getting me the ball at the right time.”

Two ETSU newcomers, junior college transfer Jalen Riley and energetic freshman A.J. Merriweather from Jackson also added double-digit nights with 16 and 17 points, respectively, as the Bucs pulled away in the second half.
