Record-breaking efforts at Thunder Valley

By

BRISTOL — By the end of Friday night, it wasn’t a secret. The drivers found their grip during the Ford Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.
And like an old-school hit parade, record after record fell by the wayside.
Track elapsed time or speed records were attained in each of the NHRA Mellow Yellow Series’ top-three classifications Friday night, setting the stage for a big Father’s Day showdown.
Del Worsham (Funny Car), Spencer Massey (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) each had Friday marks held serve through Saturday’s final two qualifying rounds due to an extreme change in track conditions.
But a number of competitors in each class, who delivered solid runs in race trim, look to make marks of their own.
