Reader: Why aren’t Christmas lights checked for burned out bulbs?

By

To the editor:

Driving through our little town at Christmas is always a wonderful experience for me. I think our town is a great example of small town America, especially at Christmas.

However, I cannot quite understand why we put up lights every Christmas that have bulbs that are burned out. Almost every light display in downtown Elizabethton has bulbs that are burned out and I saw this from the beginning, as we were driving downtown the evening the lights were being put up. I’ve noticed this for several years in a row, now.

I have to ask the question: Why aren’t the lights checked as they are put up or prior to for burned out bulbs?

This is the only thing that makes our Christmas lights tacky. Let’s have a little pride and let our lights shine bright!

Thank you and Merry Christmas.
