Reader speaks out against liquor stores in city

To the editor:

Thank you for the headline in the STAR – I believe it was was Friday, Aug. 31 – about the liquor stores. The PTB calls them package stores. Wrong name, but it does sound better and softer, doesn’t it?

They also waited as long as they could to get in the news. I called and was told I would get my absentee ballot Oct. 1. That’s OK. It won’t take me long to mark a big fat NO!

God says, “Woe unto the man that puts the bottle to his neighbor’s lips.”

There are many more warnings. Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach, but he did not say, “Get drunk.” Yes, Jesus turned water to wine, and it was good, but it wasn’t fermented or made you drunk.

Wake up, America. If we don’t turn, we are apt to burn. Remember Ninevah.

II Chronicles 14:2 says, “If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.”
