Rangers take 1-A title in OT

JOHNSON CITY — “Slugfest” and “brawl” would have been fitting words to describe the District 1-A championship game, but what took place Tuesday night was more like a fight-to-the-finish type of contest.
Unaka outlasted Cloudland 62-60 in overtime to claim the top prize before a packed house inside of Science Hill High School.
Fans got to witness nine lead changes and six ties in the second half before the extra period came about. In all it swapped hands 14 times and was knotted 10. And the game wasn’t decided until the final buzzer.

Cody McClain led the ’Dogs with 14 points while Stanley Valentine added 10.
