Rangers start with tough Oliver Springs

A new season means a new start, and for Unaka it means a fresh start as well.

The Rangers open the 2013 campaign tonight with a visit from Oliver Springs. The Bobcats (5-6 in 2012) made the TSSAA playoffs last season and will look for a quick start on Stoney Creek.

Unaka (1-9) suffered through an injury-plagued 2012 season with inexperienced players getting valuable playing time, which should prove beneficial in the coming season.

“We have some key seniors this year and the fact that they got a lot of playing time last year will be a big help,” said Rangers head coach Steve McKinney. “Travis Overdorf, Austin Anderson, Andy Guinn are all coming back from injuries last year, and we expect big things from Guinn.”
