Rangers head to Hancock seeking first win

The prime opportunity is there on Friday night for Unaka’s winless football team.

The Rangers travel to Sneedville in facing another bunch which hasn’t won a game in Mountain East Conference foe Hancock County. In fact, Unaka’s lone victory last year was over the Indians.

But the Rangers (0-4, 0-2) are in a major state of regrouping, after dropping their hardest-fought battle of the fall to rival Cloudland.

“It’s one of those weeks where we’re in a lull,” Unaka coach Steve McKinney said before Wednesday’s practice. “We’ve got our tight end (Tyler Carrier) that broke his thumb against Cloudland, and we got beat up a little bit. We didn’t have a very good practice yesterday.
