Rangers flatten North Greene

By

Not even “Windex” could have cleaned the glass any better than Unaka did on Thursday night against North Greene.
A trio of Rangers were chairmen of the boards in their 72-44 Watauga Valley Conference win over the Huskies at Snavely Gym.
Billy Bales, Eli Rasnick and Alex Baltaji combined for 32 of Unaka’s 48 total. Bales grabbed an even dozen. Rasnick had a half-dozen offensive boards while two of Baltaji’s produced buzzer-beating baskets to close the first and second quarters.
Unaka head coach Aaron Dugger stressed the importance of the game. He felt like this squad stepped up to the challenge.
“With how we won at Mountain City and how we came out and played tonight was huge,” said Dugger. “You have to hold serve at home and we did that. The kids were down after the UH loss, but we’re even in league play and right back in it. We knew that North Greene was a good rebounding team, so we challenged our kids to win the board battle. I thought it was a outstanding effort by them.”
