Pulaski knocks E-Twins from playoff consideration

Elizabethton needed a win and a Greeneville loss to keep its shot at a ninth consecutive Appy League postseason alive.

Pulaski wouldn’t oblige.

The Mariners overcame a pair of Twins home runs with two runs in the eighth and a jolt of insurance in the ninth, while Elizabethton’s bats were unable to deliver when it mattered most Thursday night. ’Betsy fell 4-2 at Joe O’Brien Field.

On the other side of the equation, Greeneville fell to Danville 3-2, thus securing the league’s playoff field by virtue of Elizabethton’s loss. A Twins win would have set up a must-win situation for the two teams on Friday.
