Elizabethton, Happy Valley, Hampton, Cloudland and Johnson County didn’t waste time in getting in their first scrimmage game in 2013. It was a very productive day for the quintet but all admitted that everything right now is a work in progress.

It was a pair of playoff teams at Rider Field, with Elizabethton and Morristown West doing battle. It was just what ’Betsy needed, according to head coach Shawn Witten.

The Warriors took to the road and had a very good day at South Greene, according to head coach Larry Shively.

The Bulldogs played up against Sullivan Central at J. C. Campbell Stadium. Head coach Mike Lunsford came away optimistic about what took place on the gridiron.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to learn Johnson County’s strength. The offensive and defensive lines were a dominate force for many who witnessed the action against Volunteer.

It was a big day for the Highlanders, who pitched a shutout on the defensive side in the four-team affair.
