On Wednesday morning, Elizabethton Police Department officers said Devyn Aldrich Chambers, 21, 142 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, was arrested after he fled from his vehicle after a traffic stop.

Patrol Officer Douglas Combs, who initiated the stop, said that, initially, Chambers was pulled over because of concerns over the transparency of his windows. Chambers then pulled his Toyota Camry into the parking lot on East E Street across from the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library.

“I tried to stop him for a window tint violation,” Combs said. “I walked up, checked the window tint with my tint meter, and saw that they were in violation. I asked him for his license … and he said he didn’t have it on him.”

After Chambers gave Combs his name, Combs said he returned to his vehicle to check the name and the vehicle’s registration. Combs said that, once he had returned to his car, Chambers then fled the scene.
