3:01 pm | October 28, 2013

A police sting operation over the weekend resulted in five individuals from five area businesses being charged with selling alcoholic beverages to minors.

According to a press release from the Elizabethton Police Department, employees from Go Grocery, Bonnie Kate Cafe, The Smokehouse BBQ Company, Beef O’Brady’s, and Lakeo Steakhouse of Japan were each issued summons citations for sale of alcohol to a minor.

Police reported that a confidential informant, who was over 18 but under 21, was used to try to procure the alcohol from several area businesses to make sure those businesses were in compliance with state law.

Those five employees will face those charges in Carter County General Sessions Court on Dec. 3, 2013.
