Piney Bluff and Horace Mann Insurance grabbed wins in Babe Ruth play on Monday night at Elizabethton High School.
PB used a mammoth seventh frame to knock off Eagle Center 12-3 before Horace Mann walked past the Braves 18-8.

For six innings, it was like a watching a restored 1965 mustang go up against a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. A “classic” until the nine-run seventh totaled the Eagle Center.
“Our kids finally started hitting the ball had there in the last inning,” said manager Eric McCracken of Piney Bluff. “We’ve been waiting on that and my pitcher Kaleb Bare pitched a great game.”

The last game was like a marathon “walk” in the park for both teams. Pitchers from both sides had more control problems than a race car trying to round BMS at 100 mph with a blown front tire.
Five pitchers from both squads combined for 29 walks and four hit batters before the game was called due to a time limit after four innings.
