The Watauga Valley Art League will meet Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Johnson City Memorial Park Community Center, at the corner of East Main Street and Bert Street, in Johnson City from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. An informal art critique begins at 10:30 a.m. for those interested. In the event that the new Community Center is not open, the meeting will be held at the Johnson City Senior Center, 607 E. Myrtle Ave.
The speaker for the October WVAL meeting will be Larry Perry, who will speak on “Artist . . . Photoshop and You.”
Perry is a prize-winning nature and wildlife photographer, whose images have been seen in some 11 magazines with three cover shots. He is a certified Photoshop instructor and popular photo tour leader who has written 27 books on a wide variety of subjects from business to self-help and written more than 400 magazine articles. He is a former newspaper columnist whose column was carried in 90 newspapers around the country.
In addition, Perry is an adjunct professor at University of Tennessee and University of California at Los Angeles and a frequent guest speaker at other colleges and universities around the country. He is a businessman with business interests in the United States as well as the Far East and an expert of international telecommunications who has testified before Congress on several occasions. He is a world traveler who has visited some 117 countries, is a licensed professional Engineer in several states and a licensed attorney.
