Peter Hampton remembered as good boss, mentor

Peter W. Hampton was known by his employees as a boss, who looked out for them and was never short on “good advice.” To friends, he was known as Pete and as a straight talker.

The longtime president and chief executive officer of Security Federal Bank died Tuesday at the age of 93. He had been in ill health for some time.

Carmella Price, a longtime employee of Security Federal, described Hampton as a wonderful employer and a dear friend. “Mr. Hampton took care of his employees and he not only offered us much-needed advice from time to time, but he gave good advice to his customers. Most of the time he was right,” she said.
